Great response to the first edition, thanks everyone who took the time to pass on the feedback – even some suggestions on a new name…our title was the best I could come up with at the time, but maybe for consideration The Rockets Rumble, The Rockets Round-up, Rumblings at the Rockets, or Rockets Ripper Yarns – all stellar second runners that I have also come up with today….feedback appreciated !
Week two was again bathed in sunshine and what a day it was for all of our Rocket’s Mums who brave the sun, wind and rain every week to cheer on their little (and not so little) warriors as they proudly wear the teal, black and white. For those Mum’s who were down at Kingsway, we hope you enjoyed the free Sunday Times (while they lasted) and opportunity to have a free chockie and coffee on the club – our little bit of appreciation for your efforts. For those at Warradale, we hope you took the opportunity to test out the new coffee machine which has been installed for the season down there.
Fixtures have now been released for the first 5 weeks of modified and open rules games and we have attached a matrix for your information which includes senior games on Saturdays as well as the games which we have been provided by the district thus far.
Success breeds success Js and we will continue to be the professional club that others aspire to… Well done to those boys who came back in club shirts and black pants too…
Success breeds success 🙂

Junior Rockets – Auskickers:
Our youngest breed of Rockets welcomed their respective Mum’s down to Warradale on Sunday morning to put on a display of their best skills and effort in a morning that was dedicated to the hard working and special ladies in their lives – Happy Mothers Day was the theme for the day with a raffle making it’s way around both sessions. Anna C was the lucky recipient in picking up the hamper and the club would like to thank all for their support. The Junior Rockets are most definitely a growing group of people and will see further growth in the years to come with the local residential development in the area. From all reports, the session went well, the Dad’s were rostered on in the canteen and we may have found a new canteen manager !!! Happy days J
All Auskick queries should be directed to the Co-ordinator, Brett Lewis on 0427 697 186.
Some good results coming through for each of the teams involved here as well as some very detailed match reports from respective managers. I was witness to a number of these games first thing at Kingsway on Sunday morning and was happy with the level of assistance received in setting up the grounds and general feel down there. For those who were there, you will have noticed our new siren which is brought out to the balcony along with the team sheet file for managers. It would be appreciated to have a timekeeper assigned for each session to ensure the correct times for each game are played allowing a fair game to be played by all. Game overviews received have been attached.
Open Rules Rockets
Again, wins for 4 out of 6 of our open rules sides with the 10’s, 11’s and 12’s doubling up the successes experienced in Round 1. Kingsway hosted the opponents of 8’s Teal, Yr 11’s and 12’s with other teams playing away making their way back to the club after the game which was good to see. Another tough week of footy this week I am sure for each of our Open Rules sides but I am positive each will do the club proud in their endeavours win, lose or draw. Important to be as gracious in defeat as humble in victory – good luck this week fellas.
The Men (and ladies) in White (well they used to be!)
All players are to be commended once again for a clean sheet for week 2. The club must remind all players, officials and parents of the agreed behaviours by which we operate under at our club and our no tolerance policy when it comes to those behaviours that may contravene the respective codes of conduct. Whilst the umpires reports came back without remark, we need to ensure that our on field and off field behaviours are second to none so please be aware of your behaviour that can be controlled by you in all capacities. Opposing parents and players we cannot control, and we must leave that to the officials employed in our great game to be allowed to oversee.
The Last Quarter:
A solid week once again for the club in general with many good reports coming back from games that were played at away venues. We are always open to constructive feedback so if you see something that you think can be improved, please feel free to let one of the committee know. I am certain via this process that the club will continue to evolve and grow in a safe and positive environment for our kids to be a part of and more will want to be a part of, going forward.
I mentioned the volunteer aspect in last weeks’ round up and I would ask you to respect all that are involved in the club who perform these volunteer roles. I would like to thank Justine McLoughlin for her efforts in many aspects at the club, most recently social events co-ordination. Both Justine and Cathy (as I mentioned last week) have had to step away from their committee roles due to ongoing and increasing work commitments so we are looking for members to step up and help in the areas of trophies and social for the rest of the season. If you are able to help and have a say in these two areas, please let us know.
