Welcome to 2014
Welcome to season 2014 with the Kingsway Junior Football Club (Rockets). This is our 15th year of the clubs existence in performing its function as a strong community based competitive sporting organization with junior footballers and their development as our focus.
2013 was another hugely successful year for the club with 5 of our 7 Open Rules teams making the finals series. 3 sides made the Grand Final with David Coopers Yr9s falling at the final hurdle but Stuart Hobley’s Yr8s and Steven Sims Yr10s winning Premierships for the club. Congratulations to all players and coaching staff on such great performances for KJFC in all finals games.
On top of the on field success the club recognised some amazing people for all their effort with 2 people who were awarded the highest award in the club, “Life Membership” being Craig Kidd and Davis Cooper. The clubs intention is to introduce a presentation session to award these amazing guys the Life Member pins and Colin Dempster and Darrin McLoughlin on a Sunday afternoon back at the club rather than wait till the awards night at the end of the season. More details in the coming weeks but likely to be round 2 or 3 being I am overseas for round 1
2014 is already in full swing for the Exec committee. The last AGM has seen 5 changes to the Exec with only Ian Brotherton and myself still there. Michael Wilden is our Junior Vice President, Ryan Santich our Secretary, Phil Germain our Treasurer, Shelley Gardiner our Registrar and Mike Sherwood our Auskick Coordinator. I’m sure this team will do a fantastic job again for you all. The Exec committee can be contacted at Exec@kingswayjfc.com.au
It is the objective of the Kingsway Junior Football Club to develop player’s skills and coordination in a social and friendly but competitive team sports atmosphere whilst promoting personal self-confidence in a team environment.
The safety, welfare and well being of the players attending the Club are of a priority at all times – please take responsibility for yourself, your children and your invited guests when representing, supporting or advocating the club and what we stand for. For that reason we have been a strong driver of the new Code of Conduct for parents, officials and players alike and has been introduce to all clubs in our District this season. Thanks to Matt Lamb and Subiaco for being passionate about introducing this. Hopefully it will help educate all involved in junior football.
The Rockets welcome you and your family and encourage you to utilise the facilities and networking opportunities the club offers. The Committee, Coaches, Managers and players thank you for registering your children to play with our club.
Enjoy the season.
Proud to be President
